Paint color sample haiku by Noel from Florence, Massachusetts
New Zealand's FIRST LIGHT A HUSH over early hours The future dawns RED
J. Greene Painting will give 1 pound of food for each Haiku submitted (up to 100 pounds) to the Northampton Survival Center.
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.
Sample:
I am first with five
Then seven in the middle
Five again to end.

What ENVY I have
While I watch you use CHOPSTICKS
I PONDER, “Can I?”
And
Stand at the fountain
Take PENNY from your pocket
STOP, toss, make a WISH
New Zealand's FIRST LIGHT A HUSH over early hours The future dawns RED
First light, light touch. Hush. Creamy skin, sweet lullaby. Hopeful penny wish.
Salute to staff here Cheerful, they stop hunger now Respect, care and hope
Sing a lullaby To the creamy nacho cheese Then go to the spa
